This application is the final-year-project of two students -Nikos Georgopoulos and Adamantia Athanasopoulou- who study at the Applied Informatics Department of the University of Macedonia. The project has been developed at the Education Technology Lab under the surveilance and support of the Department's teacher Dr. M. Roumeliotis.
The two students' mutual interest for the art of photography gave birth to the first thoughts for the development of such a project. After some talks with the Museum of Photography Thessaloniki, the creation of a database with the Museum's archive has been agreed.
This project resides in the World Wide Web, but it is also available in a CD-ROM. So, now, not only is easy and direct access to the archive of photographies a fact, but also has the Museum the chance to exist worldwide. Running the application from the CD-ROM makes the browsing and searching for a specific photographer or photograph quick and easy. Moreover, because of the existance of this project in the World Wide Web, the Museum of Photography Thessaloniki becomes more and more famous, and people from all over the world have the chance to visit (virtually) the Museum
